Lead Ban and Lead Selling Restriction Information

Menace Baits™ Menace Jigs consist of lead, a poisonous metal known by the state of California to cause different types of cancer and other reproductive harms. Several states have taken action against anglers using lead sinkers and jig heads to prevent wildlife from ingesting these lead products and suffering from lead poisoning. Some states are now prohibiting the sale and use of lead fishing tackle in their waters. Please inform yourself on the information below especially if you live in any of the states listed before purchasing lead fishing tackle from Menace Baits™.

New Hampshire

New Hampshire has banned the sale and use of lead sinkers and jig heads weighing one ounce or less. Unfortunately, New Hampshire residents may not purchase or use any Menace Baits™ jig products.

Massachusetts

Massachusetts enacted an administrative rule that prohibits the use of lead fishing sinkers and jigs less than 1 ounce in all inland waters. Due to this regulation, Menace Baits™ will not conduct sell jigs in Massachusetts.

New York

New York has banned the sale of lead sinkers weighing less than half of an ounce. However, The ban does not restrict the sale of artificial lures, so New York residents are able to purchase and use all Menace Baits™ products.

Maine

Maine has banned the sale of lead sinkers weighing less than half of an ounce. However, The ban does not restrict the sale of artificial lures, so Maine residents are able to purchase and use all Menace Baits™ products.

Canadian National Park and Wildlife Areas

The use of lead sinkers and jigs weighing less than 50 grams (1.41 ounces) is prohibited in Canadian national parks and national wildlife areas. Environment Canada and Parks Canada prohibited the possession of lead fishing sinkers or lead jigs weighing less than 50 g by anglers fishing in National Wildlife Areas and National Parks. If you are a Canadian resident, please inform yourself about this regulation before using Menace Baits™ jigs.

Lead Restriction Order Policy

If your order includes lead products and the package is being shipped to New Hampshire or Massachusetts, the lead products will be immediately refunded and removed from your order and you will be emailed a notice about the restriction and regulation.

Where Do We Stand on Lead Bans and Restrictions?

Lead is a critical asset to the hunting and fishing industry. When used responsibly, lead can be a safe and effective tool for hunting and fishing. Light lead regulations in very specific locations for the conservation of certain species is beneficial, but we feel that statewide or nationwide bans on lead fishing and hunting equipment are ineffective, excessive, and detrimental to the economy and the outdoors industry.

How Can You Help?

Be a responsible and conservative angler and outdoorsman. Leave the outdoors cleaner than it already was when you leave. When fishing with lead fishing tackle, clean up after yourself and properly dispose of the tackle. Follow any and all rules and regulations regarding lead bans, but be sure to voice your opinion by prompting your government officials to support lead hunting and fishing equipment, and voting for pro lead hunting and fishing equipment policies.
